Prairie Village News

I just read this in the Neighborhood News section of the Kansas City Star. This will be very good for Prairie Village and Mission Hills and will provide a really nice gateway into each city. Enjoy.

Phoenix, AZ

Phoenix, here I am! :-D It is really nice here. We're all going to take naps because we got up at 4:30am to get on a 6:55am flight out of KC. Joyous fun. I am having a great time. Today we drove around and walked around Downtown Scottsdale. It was very neat. I will post some pics that I have taken so far. More to come as the weekend/week goes.

Prairie Village Future City Plans

I have discovered some great plans that Prairie Village has introduced in order to make Prairie Village a better, even though it's great now, place to live. Here are some ideas:

  • Narrowing traffic lanes
  • Providing additional green space with a median or parkway along the sidewalk
  • Developing a program to plant new or replace street trees with ones more in scale with the surrounding buildings and ones that would not interfere with overhead utility lines
  • Use paved areas currently restricted from traffic for green space
75th Street Corridor (between State Line & Nall):

^Current 75th Corridor, just East of Mission^

^Idea for new 75th corridor, just East of Mission^

^Current 75th Corridor @ Roe^

^Idea for new 75th Corridor @ Roe^

These ideas would narrow the lanes, but would add landscaping where traffic is not allowed (where there is yellow paint is in the center of the roadway).

More to come.

Pkwy/Blvd Update & Where Has The Snow Gone????

They are putting dark poles up along Parkways and Boulevards. Well, at least the control boxes along Ward Pkwy are dark! Yesss! This is a good sign! More to come as more info is released! :-D

Here was the best day of this school year. See if you can figure out why. Haha.

KCMO Parkways/Boulevards Decision

Since I am such a good citizen, I suggested some street lights that address neighbors concerns. These include, but are not limited too:
  • Light Pollution
  • Light Flooding Into Homes
  • Too Much Outward Light
  • Too Many Noticeable Lights
  • No More Poles
The suggestions I made were:
  • Bronze or Black Street Light Fixtures (to go along with the dark poles that will hopefully be implemented)(this will keep the fixtures from sticking out)
  • Full Cutoff (light directed down at sharper angle keeping light from flooding into homes)
  • Cutoff (light more spread out, but still keeps light from flooding into homes)
  • Same wattage as current fixtures
  • No new poles to be installed (unnecessary to add more because of putting full cutoff or cutoff lenses on the lights)
Hope it sounds good.

Allison's/Theme Dance

Last night was crazy fun. Here it is in a nutshell:
1) Went to Allison's and watched "Blues Brothers" and "Wayne's World". Went and saved Wesley and David from 10 year old girls and got Kin Lin.
2) Went to the theme dance. The DJ was better this time, but there was still way to much rap. Neways, then went back to Allison's to pick up my car.
3) Busse and I sped back to Nick's. Timed 0-60 on Ward Pkwy. Took the turn from Ward Pkwy onto 57th Terr a little too fast. Nothing happened though, I just screeched a lot. Oh well, twas fun, but a little bit crazy.
4) Fun times at Nick's. Although, suprisingly, we didn't run around the neighborhood making mischief. Hmm, odd I think.
Oh, well, there was one thing:

SEXY, SEXY, SEXY!!!!
